SUMMARY:Michael Gove: Is there a future for democracy?
DESCRIPTION:\nThis event has been rescheduled. Due to a change in Michael Gove’s commitments, the event will now take place on Wednesday 13 May 2027.\nExisting tickets remain valid for the new date. Ticket holders who are unable to attend the rescheduled event should contact Arundells to arrange a refund.\nAcross the democratic world, voters are losing faith in established institutions while new technologies and global tensions reshape political life. In this thought-provoking talk, Michael Gove draws on decades in government and public life to explore whether democracy can meet the challenges of the twenty-first century, and why its future should matter to us all.\nMichael Gove is Editor of The Spectator. He was elected Member of Parliament for Surrey Heath in 2005 and served in the cabinets of four prime ministers before standing down from the House of Commons in 2024. In 2025, he was made a peer in Rishi Sunak’s honours list and joined the House of Lords, taking the title Lord Gove of Torry.\n\nDate: Thursday 13 May\nTime: Doors open 6.30pm; talk begins at 7.00pm\nWhere: The Guildhall, Guildhall Square, Salisbury, SP1 1JH\nTickets: £28 (including a glass of wine or soft drink)\n
