Why did they come to an end? And could similar events happen again?\nIn this fascinating lecture, Professor Ronald Hutton explores one of the most dramatic and troubling episodes in European history.\nAbout the Speaker\nRonald Hutton is Professor of History at the University of Bristol and one of Britain’s leading historians. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, the Society of Antiquaries, the Learned Society of Wales, and the British Academy. He has also been appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).\nHe has published twenty books and ninety-six essays on subjects ranging from British history between 1400 and 1700 to ancient and modern paganism, the British ritual year, and Siberian shamanism.
