SOLD OUT- The 2022 Sir Edward Heath Annual Lecture with Ken Clarke & Special Guests

Our lecturer is (Lord) Kenneth Clarke, who was a whip during the Heath government before serving as Education, Health and Home Secretaries, Chancellor of the Exchequer and Lord Chancellor, under subsequent Conservative prime ministers.

Kenneth Clarke will be joined on 30th June by the historians Dominic Sandbrook and Vernon Bogdanor, as well as the former Cabinet Secretary, (Lord) Robin Butler, who worked with Edward Heath at Number Ten, in an event to be compered by Gyles Brandreth.

Sara Morrison, a close friend of Sir Edward, will give a vote of thanks to all speakers at the conclusion of the lecture.

The subject of the lecture will be ‘Back to the Future: What the politics of the 1970s has to teach Britain today‘.

It will be held at 3pm on Thursday 30th June, in the nave of Salisbury Cathedral, and will be followed by a drinks reception in the Cloister of the Cathedral at 4.30pm.

During the reception you will be able to visit the Magna Carta exhibition.

Tickets are £25 each, which includes the lecture, the reception and the Magna Carta exhibition.

N.B If you purchased tickets for last year’s event and asked to carry them forward, we will be in touch directly to organise this.

    It’s splendid to celebrate Sir Edward (SaIisbury Cathedral, 30 June 2022) whom I met once at the Sheldonian in Oxford.

    He was probably the U. K. ‘s most European Prime Minister. He must be gyrating in his grave!

    Will the talk be televised and/or be put on youTube/Zoom for the benefit of Rejoiners like myself and many others?
