What does it mean to volunteer in a historic house? At Arundells, it means spending time with fascinating objects, engaging conversations, and being part of a community that cares deeply about ideas, history and culture.
This spring, we’re looking to welcome new volunteers and we’re hosting a Volunteering Open Day to offer a relaxed, informal way to find out what volunteering at Arundells is really like.
Discover volunteering at Arundells
On Wednesday 11 March, from 10.00am to 1.00pm, we’re opening our doors to anyone curious about getting involved. The Open Day is a friendly opportunity to meet the team, explore the house, and ask questions over tea, coffee and homemade cake.
Whether you’re completely new to volunteering or looking for something different, it’s a chance to see behind the scenes and decide whether Arundells might be the right fit for you.
Why volunteer at Arundells?
Volunteering here is about much more than welcoming visitors (though that’s an important part of it). Our volunteers enjoy:
- Spending time in a unique historic home in the Cathedral Close
- Engaging with visitors from all walks of life
- Sharing stories about art, history, politics and music
- Being part of a supportive, sociable community
Whether your interests lie in art, history, politics, music or sailing, or you simply enjoy meeting people and spending time in a beautiful setting, there’s something here for you.
Who are we looking for?
We are currently looking for House Stewards to help us showcase Arundells’ exceptional collection to the public. You don’t need to be an expert, just friendly, curious, and happy to learn. Full support and training are provided, and volunteering can fit flexibly around your other commitments.
Can’t make the Open Day?
If you’re interested in volunteering but can’t attend on the day, we’d still love to hear from you. Our Volunteer Coordinator, Daniel, is always happy to talk through what volunteering involves and answer any questions.
Join us
If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, or are simply curious to find out more, do come along to our Open Day and see for yourself. You might just find a new passion, a new community, and a very special place to spend your time.
