Lunchtime Concert: Wessex Folk Orchestra

Enjoy a relaxed summer lunchtime of live music in the garden at Arundells. This special outdoor concert is included with normal admission, offering the chance to experience traditional music in a beautiful historic setting.

The Wessex Folk Orchestra, led by William Shering, perform a lively and uplifting programme of traditional country dance music. Drawing on sources such as Playford’s Compleat Dance (1651–1728), the Thomas Hardy and Jane Austen family tune books, alongside newly composed pieces, their performances bring historic music vividly to life. The orchestra has appeared at venues including Mompesson House, Hinton Ampner, St Thomas’s Church Salisbury and Jane Austen’s House, and look forward to performing at the former home of the passionate musician Edward Heath.

Visitors are very welcome to bring picnics and drinks to enjoy in the garden while listening to the music. We simply ask that you take any rubbish home with you to help us keep the gardens beautiful for everyone.

Bring a chair or picnic blanket, relax, and enjoy the music as part of your visit.
