Rebuilding from the Centre

Answering the Populist Challenge

In partnership with Prosper UK, Arundells is delighted to welcome Andy Street, former Mayor of the West Midlands and Co-chair of Prosper UK, for an evening of discussion and debate.

Against the backdrop of Sir Edward Heath’s former home, guests will have the opportunity to hear Andy Street explore the populist challenge facing mainstream politics today, before taking part in questions from the audience.

Guests will enjoy an exclusive after-hours visit to Arundells, including access to the house and gardens, followed by a drinks reception before the talk.

Andy Street – Co-chair, Prosper UK

Andy Street - Prosper UK
Andy Street is the former Mayor of the West Midlands (2017–2024). He won two unexpected elections in 2017 and 2021 in what many regarded as a Labour heartland. He remains a leading voice for the West Midlands and for strong, empowered regions that can deliver for local communities and strengthen the economy. Before entering politics, Andy was Managing Director of John Lewis and he brings a clear business perspective to public service. He is also Chair of the Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

Prosper UK Logo
Prosper UK is a new political movement, launched in January 2026 to represent the seven million centre and centre-right voters who feel politically homeless. It believes the path back to government runs through the centre ground and that the extremes must be challenged. Co-chaired by Andy Street and Ruth Davidson, with a board including David Gauke, Amber Rudd, David Lidington, Gavin Barwell and Margot James, it is developing a policy programme anchored in economic growth and building a grassroots network that now has more than 25,000 supporters.
