The Trustees of the Sir Edward Heath Charitable Foundation were greatly saddened by news of the death of Barbara Hosking CBE. Barbara worked with Sir Edward during his time as Prime Minister and they formed a warm mutual professional regard for each other. As captured in her memoirs ‘Exceeding My Brief: Memoirs of a Disobedient Civil Servant’ she was a pioneer for the role of women in the media, public life and even in mining in Africa. We were privileged to welcome her to Arundells in 2018 when she captivated her audience when giving a frank, warm and memorable account of her experiences in Downing Street working for both Harold Wilson and Edward Heath. She will be much missed.
