Across the democratic world, voters are losing faith in established institutions while new technologies and global tensions reshape political life. In this thought-provoking talk, Michael Gove draws on decades in government and public life to explore whether democracy can meet the challenges of the twenty-first century, and why its future should matter to us all.
Michael Gove is Editor of The Spectator. He was elected Member of Parliament for Surrey Heath in 2005 and served in the cabinets of four prime ministers before standing down from the House of Commons in 2024. In 2025, he was made a peer in Rishi Sunak’s honours list and joined the House of Lords, taking the title Lord Gove of Torry.
