Angela Rippon joins Gyles Brandreth’s world-class line-up of speakers to honour the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II in Salisbury Cathedral

Each summer, The Sir Edward Heath Annual Lecture – organised by The Sir Edward Heath Charitable Foundation – looks at an issue spanning the post-war period in Britain or the wider word, offering a lively platform for a public conversation in the spectacular setting of Salisbury Cathedral.

Moderated by Gyles Brandreth, this year’s lecture will be held on the afternoon of Thursday 30th May and will honour the remarkable life of our late Queen, HM Elizabeth II, featuring a line-up of world-class speakers to discuss a 70-year reign.

The title of the lecture is: Queen Elizabeth II: Life, Legacy & Service to Britain.

Our panel of world-class speakers includes:
Gyles Brandreth – television personality and author of ‘Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait’. Gyles will introduce and moderate the event.
Angela Rippon – Renowned broadcaster who has covered royal events for half a century.
Ailsa Anderson – served as press secretary to the Queen for twelve years from 2001 to 2013.
Robert Hardman – Daily Mail writer and author of the biographies ‘Queen of Our Times’ and ‘Charles III’.
Hugo Vickers – royal commentator and author of ‘Coronation’ (on the 1953 Coronation) and ‘Elizabeth: The Queen Mother’.

The speakers will give their personal appreciation of the Queen, both as an individual and as our national leader, and assess the challenges, achievements and legacy of her reign, as well as exploring her constitutional role in Britain and the Commonwealth, and the future of the monarchy.

Ticket options include a drinks reception at Arundells after the lecture which offers an opportunity to socialise and to meet the speakers after the lecture.
